AUM Honors Program Application

Thank you for your interest in applying to the AUM University Honors Program. Any incoming transfer or high school student who has been admitted to AUM, or any currently enrolled AUM student with a minimum of four semesters remaining in their undergraduate degree program, may apply for admission to the University Honors Program.

Typically, successful applicants meet the following criteria:

Have been accepted to AUM and have an S-Number
ACT score of 27+ OR SAT score of 1220+
GPA of 3.5+

This form will automatically submit information from your student file, including GPA, number of hours completed, and other pertinent data.

Essays must be completed using Word and submitted electronically with these guidelines is in mind:

Include no identifying information in any part of the essay except your S-number in the upper left of each page; do not put your name on the essay.
The body of the essay should be double-spaced.
Demonstrate your understanding of writing conventions as you say something interesting, stake out a point of view, and make a case that supports your thesis.
Remember that one of the best features of the college experience is that not everyone will share your experiences, attitudes, beliefs, and ideas. We value and learn from the differences of perspective within our Honors community.
A title is useful, but not one that reduces to "My Application Essay."
Do not forget that your essays are part of an Honors program application, and we expect all applicants to behave in honorable ways, for example, by submitting only original work.
Don't ask anyone to edit your essay. We want to hear your voice and thoughts, without the interference of someone else's thinking.
Be creative and have fun.

Applying for admission to the University Honors Program is a two-part process. Students will (1) submit the UHP application, which includes two essays written in response to prompts, and (2) participate in an interview.

To remain active in the UHP, students must maintain a GPA of at least 3.4, complete 12 or more service hours each semester, and earn a grade of “B” or higher in any course taken for UHP credit. Members of the UHP are expected to represent AUM, the University Honors Program, and the AUM Honors Assembly in a positive manner.
